Adele - Send my love to your new lover

'Send my love to your new lover' is a single released by english singer/songwriter Adele, on her third studio album '25' in 2015. The single is a pop song with an uptemp rhythmic sound; the singer described it as a "happy you're gone" song directed towards her ex-boyfriend.The accompanying music video was directed by Patrick Daughters, and premiered on 22nd of  May 2016 at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards

The video features Adele singing the song against a black backdrop with many shots of her overlapping one another, the video received a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.  As the music video progresses, multiple semi-transparent shots of the singer dancing at the same time appear layered on top of eachother, like a kaleidoscopic. The camera is focused on her facial expressions throughout, which is done too show the emotions of the song and personal attachment the singer might feel towards it.  The main idea behind the visual was to focus on the singers performance; the concept behind the video came from a single lyric in the song about "letting go of her ghosts". There were twelve takes for the video, which were all combined in one shot eventually; during each of them Adele expressed her emotions using a different movement.

The music video begins with an establishing shot of the singer wearing a floorlength floral dress staring down towards the camera, which makes her the focal point. The camera zooms in as the beat kicks in and Adele sings the first verse. After this verse, the picture becomes distorted as several layers have been used to capture different movements and facial expressions. This technique is effective because it allows you to create different perspectives in editing. The video uses mostly dull and dark colours, the lightest point of the composition is the singers face which makes it the main focus. This is a hugely effective technique because the use of body language and facial expressions make the audience understand her better.  I believe that this video will have a positive impact on audiences because it symbolises the host of emotions you might feel after a bad breakup, therfore audiences might be able to understand a relate to this perspective.

Unit 10 - production log

We were tasked with...We began by coming up with our own ideas, mine were as written bellow.. Freddie and i decided to work together on this project, aiming to produce our own edits at the end of the assignment. We discussed how we could combine things we had thought of using the ideas we started to develop in the previous weeks. Final idea -  It is Halloween, three students are in detention. The teacher goes to his office to collect some paperwork, whilst he’s gone things start of move and fall. This sparks a conversation amongst the students about whether there is a ghost that haunts the college. They decide to leave the class whilst the teacher is gone, they go down to the basement. Adam is sure that ghosts could never be real, contrastingly Natalie is petrified to the point she believes the ghost will take her soul. They are sat around, nothing happens. The students are still talking about their theories when dust from the ceiling comes crashing down, through the gaps cree...

Storyboards

A storyboard is a visual representation of a sequence seen on screen in a moving image production, they usually include - camera directions, characters movements, timings and a brief synopsis of the action. Each cast and crew member should be given a copy of the storyboard, this will help to enable everything goes as it was intended to be. A storyboard might show a camera operator how to move the camera as the director had wanted, or they can tell an actor how they should be moving. Overall, ensuring that storyboards are done to a professional standard and having them will help to make the pre-production process easier. Who invented the Storyboard? The story boarding technique was developed by  Walt Disney Productions  during early 1930, they have credited   one of their animators Webb Smith with creating the idea of drawing scenes on separate sheets of paper and putting them on a bulletin board to tell a story in sequence, the first storyboard he created was ...

storyboarding production log

Storyboarding - Production log 03-10-2019 Today we were given the brief, we have been tasked with creating three media products’ storyboards. We will have to pitch our ideas and develop the two best received ones. My ideas were as follows – ·          TV show – The show will tell the same story as the film except it will go into why the ghost has chosen to haunt the college, and why he has chosen the three students to haunt. The ghost is haunting the college because his daughter died at the college and he has chosen these students because they have all done something wrong but the ghost feels they have the potential to be good people and he wants to help them. ·          Video game – three characters are chasing their colleges resident ghost around. They collect candies to boost energy. The game is intended to reach out to younger audiences as the film or TV show may be too much for youn...
